ST. LOUIS - A St. Louis man was fatally shot early Sunday morning by gunmen on bicycles, police said.

Juan Almanza, 37, of the 4000 block of Dryden Avenue, was shot multiple times about 1:30 a.m. after an argument with two men, police said.

Almanza and another man, 35, were sitting on a porch in the 3100 block of Utah Avenue when two men rode by on bicycles, stopped and began arguing, police said.

One of the bicyclists then pulled out a gun and shot the two men, police said. Almanza collapsed and died at the scene. The second victim was shot in his leg and ran off.

Police had made no arrests Sunday

Sitting on the porch as they rode by on bicycles? I wonder what provoked the altercation. Could the men on the porch have said something derogatory to the men on the bikes?

Even so, legally, mere words can not provoke a physical response. Apparently the guys on the bikes didn't care.

Just goes to show, people should mind their own business. I wish we had more details as to what happened.

Mode of transport bears little on level of threat.

Sounds like some gang activity and shooting to me, Grady. These thugs care little about any life except their own.

I am taking your sound advice not to argue with anyone at 1:30 am.
