Sad/Bad: Man kills wife and self AFTER being released on bond for assaulting her!

    http://www.dailyfreeman.com/articles...1902874195.txt

HYDE PARK — A man who was released from jail this week after spending a month behind bars for assaulting his wife shot and killed the woman early Thursday and then took his own life, according to the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said Anthony J. Riccardulli Sr., 55, killed his wife Linda, 47, about 5 a.m. Thursday in the couple’s home at 46 S. Quaker Lane in Hyde Park and then killed himself as police closed in.

Riccardulli had been in the Dutchess County Jail since his arrest on June 28 for a domestic violence incident involving his family but was released on Tuesday after posting $25,000 bail, authorities said.

It's an unfortunate event! One that could possibly have been stopped if someone other than the husband had a firearm and some training. Very Sad.

Well, this is one example of "assault" on another in which he wasn't merely in it for the power. He really meant it.

Yup. All the laws in the world can be made, but a motivated criminal can still find a way.

All of which underscores the stupidity of the expectation that such laws do much more than penalize and criminalize upstanding citizens, restricting their access to defensive tools against these animals.

+1 But somehow these things end up being used against the "gun" or gun owners as being bad and they will still sit around and try to make more laws only to find out that they never work. When will it end???

I'm glad the daughter wasn't shot and killed while the officer waited outside for a SWAT team.

I am surprised what with the violence he's already displayed against the mother, and the threatened violence against the kids wit the knife and shottie, they did not pack up and get the EL out of there before he was released .
Very sad. Good that he did'nt kill any of the children at least.WoW

She should have got help from a domestic violence advovate and moved out into a safe home with the only contact being in court,I wonder if the court ever advised her he had bonded out

I'm sure the brady bunch will reveal that he was a concealed carry permit holder....

Why would they release a man who threatened his family with armed violence? Why would she not have been notified of his release? Why would she be where he could find her? Why did he shoot the dog?

Being in NY he absolutely was as that is the only way to own/purchase handguns. What they won't tell you is that in NY all handguns with their serials are listed on the back of the permit so when the police confiscated all the weapons in the house it is very easy to make sure they get them all. So that .38 was somehow obtained illegally either after his release or prior and was well hidden on the premisses.

That is a very well thought out point. Yes, we have all our handguns listed on our permits along with S/N's. I agree with you that the gun was more than likely illegal.

Perhaps having a gun could have saved this woman.

Why couldn't this dirtbag have killed himself before he killed his wife?
    I'd be O.K. with that!
