Small Town Shooting in South East Colorado-Two Store Owners Shot

This shooting happened only a few miles from my town. With stuff like this happening so close by, it sure is a warm and fuzzy feeling knowing that I am prepared for this type of situation. I also thought it was nice of the Media to post exactly where the victims are located so if this is more than just a "robbery attempt", they can do more damage to the victims.....

ROCKY FORD, Colo. -- Rocky Ford police and the Otero County sheriff's office are investigating a shooting that happened on Saturday. We've learned the owners of La Nortena, a clothing store were shot.

A woman has been taken to St. Mary Corwin in Pueblo. A man has been air lifted to Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs. Their conditions aren't known at this point.

Rocky Ford Police, State Patrol and La Junta Police are investigating. Detectives are looking for silver or grey sedan, with four Hispanic men inside, in their late teens or early 20's. Investigators say the car had New Mexico license plates.

Certainly not much to talk about here. It could be about anything, but I bet the store owners, if not gun owners then, will be considering it now.

I wish all Store Owners would carry a Handgun or have some sort of Firearm close by..From my understanding though, the Owners of this Store are actually illegals and wouldn't be able to carry..It also looks as though this was a hit instead of a robbery..

What really upsets me is I live very near to this town and there is very little coverage of this. Many people still don't know it happened, no updates nada.

Now from a really good source of mine, the Rocky Ford Police Department chased the suspects into the Rocky Ford Family Dollar and detained who they "thought" the suspects were. Almost immediatly after they detained those "suspects" outside, the real shooters ran outside of the Family Dollar and got into their sedan and drove off. CowboyColby, this is exactly why we have barely heard about this incident more, because these Lawmen don't want to admit the great job they have done. Just to be clear, this source was watching this go down as it happened at Family Dollar.

Thanks Brhino I hadn't heard that, but I think the paper or radio should mention that the public needs to be aware due to these bad guys still being at large and abviously dangerous I have only talked to one person out of about ten that even heard about it.

The media generally does a good job of non/under reporting when there are illegal immigrants involved.
