Cruz should have neither talked nor shot, he should have walked. The bar owner on the other hand should have opened fire when Cruz started advancing from his truck with his gun in hand. JMHO.

NO, i'm saying the owner should not have talked when Cruz returned with a gun and he had his in his hand, its obvious what the intent was. he should have shot him as he returned.

Cruz was one of the bouncers. Elizondo was the CBP officer.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection inspector Jose Elizondo
According to the article, Cruz picked up his Boss's gun and started firing back at Elizondo after his boss was shot and went down.

The reason Elizondo is being charged is because he went to his truck retrieved a gun and returned because somebody disrespected his wife.He should have got in his truck picked up his wife and brother and left, alcoho, guns,l and machismo will get you in trouble every time

    Sorry, I miss-understood your meaning.

I plead guilty to sloppy reading. When I looked at the article, the caption under the picture said Cruz was being returned to his cell and I thought that was the CBP charged with murder.

    Agreed.

Yes being kicked out of a bar sucks, but you know what it doesn't happen for no reason.
Yes having your wife disrespected sucks by bouncers, but you know what that's how it goes when you get to the point of being bounced out of a bar...Which very likely did not happen for no reason.

    Murder, plain and simple.
Do not do this at home.

A second scuffle unfolded between Elizondo and the bouncers after they apparently disrespected his wife, Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Treviño said. Elizondo broke free from the scuffle, went to his truck and got his CBP-issued H&K .40-caliber pistol, investigators said.
Whatever that means. And he's an officer, as well. Customs, so who knows how much actual street time he's had under his belt. Obviously he didn't learn much, however much time it was he'd spent in the real world. Waste of a badge, training and trust, apparently.

How many times have we heard this sort of logic from felons who blow a gasket? The guy "disrespected" me/him/her/us, and that justifies murder, 'cause he'll not allow such "disrespect" on his watch, by God.

    The murderers' credo.

Suck it up, Pancho. You're about to head to Cell Block D and meet the brothers who run it. Don't forget the lipstick.

Guy should have swallowed his pride and went home. He could've just gone to another place to hang out and never return.......that would've been the better option rather than getting into trouble and going to jail. Stories like this reinforce my decision to NOT drink as long as I have my CCP. I like to maintain my highest level of alertness and if ever involved in SD scenario I definitely wouldn't want my judgement to be impaired.

Ditto. I am not so worried about myself, as I drink very little, am not an in-your-face type, and simply avoid the sort of places where such behavior is typical. But the one thing I can't ever control is the other person's behavior. That is always the ugly unknown factor, and there's no telling how much that other guy is going to drink, and just how ugly he's going to get. For that reason, I try to avoid such places whenever possible. It's simply not worth it. There are far too many other, better places where such things almost never occur.

On a side note,In the last few months they have had a few cops in trouble, one was a Sergeant on the Hidalgo Sheriff Department got a second DUI and was fired,a former Pharr cop was involved in a botched kidnapping and attempted murder for a drug cartel,A sheriff deputy In a county close to the border was using his position to escort drug shipments past Border Patrol roving patrols and checkpointsThe few bad apples in Law Enforcement down here give Law enforcement agencies a black eye
