Also good, the cops happened to be in the right place at the right time and caught the three fleeing.

Good job defending herself! although the subject of children and firearms in the home is a shaky one, stories like this highlight the positive side.

sounds like the suspects knew weapons were in the house to steal! another good reason to be discrete.

She was taught how to shoot. Then HAD to utilize that knowledge to save her butt while keeping her head together.

Brave kid, I think she's ready for a semi pistol and some additional training.

Gutierrez said she feels lucky because just a few days ago she had learned how to shoot a rifle.

"I felt proud of myself," Gutierrez said.
As well you should, Ms. Gutierrez. Well done!

May the schmucks get some fair jail time and the opportunity to rethink what is likely to be their fate if they keep walking the path of the gutter.

It's nice to see when children are gun-proofed such that they are safe around firearms. It's far nicer to see when a child has been rape- and murder-proofed via being taught to defend herself to the death if need be. Just as it should be.

With proper training and a mature mindset an 11 year old girl can be quite safe and proficient with a firearm:

    That little girl did good.

Here is a link to a sad story about some kids who were murdered because the family's guns were locked up as required by CA law:

Ummmm correct me if I'm wrong, but according to the account, the BG was between her and the room anyways... Not sure how the gun being lower would have helped...seeing as she was no where near it and didn't even think of it till later anyways (according to the account)
