Age has very little bearing on the level of the threat. A lower age sometimes make the threat greater as the individual has been told and knows that any punishment he receives will be less than what would be given an adult.

Yes I could...after a couple of combat tours, I've resolved this already....because he could kill you just as much as a 15 y/o, 20 y/o, or 40 y/o with a gun....If they don't want to get shot and killed, they shouldn't be criminals.

After hearing a 15 yr old, that was looking at a hunting magazine, say wow I bet that would hurt if you shot someone in the head with it. He was referring to a saboted 12 ga slug. That was a long walk, followed by a long talk. Basically, he was a clueless idiot when it came to guns. He probably believed all the crap from TV and movies. I think the lower the age the less they think about the consequences for them or you. Thus the more dangerous they can be.
10 yrs old, wow. That would be a bad, bad situation.

If a ten year old pulled a pistol on me I would indeed shoot him. Also notice from the article that there were a total of four punks involved in the mugging ranging in age from 15 to 10. Sounds like they are gang wannabe's and if they have chosen crime as their path they should expect the results of that decision.
All four of the little punks should be tried as adults and spend the same time in prison (juvenile) as anyone else who committed the same crime. That might be their only change of turning their lives around. How many criminals can we name that started off young and didn't stop because they got no punishment?
