Others will, no doubt, hit the safety issues, so all I will say is how terribly, terribly sad.

This is a good place for a public service announcement: Be careful when training.

Whether you're conducting a drill or a FoF scenario, it's important to train safe and think in advance about what could wrong and how to prevent injuries. Take your time and run through practice drills slowly a few times before working up to real-life speed.

In the case of this fellow shooting his wife, it's obvious that the basic rules of firearm safety were not followed. For an accident of this magnitude to occur, it's safe to assume that the shooter had never learned the 4 rules. I'm not aware of any kind of drill that would involve use of a live firearm pointed at a training partner. A dummy gun is only thing I've used in FoF practice, and I don't think there's any protocol for drills that would involve use of an actual (cleared) firearm.

This is bad. I don't undertand how the gun accidently went off though he had to have his finger on the trigger which you should never do unless you are clear to fire your gun.

    Le sigh.

One more for the Brady and CDC gun incident/shooting databases.

Well, it's quite obvious that the plan needs changing. Next time she's going to have the gun!

Don't you know that guns are always going off accidentally? That's what makes them so dangerous. Imagine how many shootings we could prevent if guns were safe...

Maybe this man never planned on having the next anniversary? Almost sounds like the perfect situation in which to claim 'accident".
