Bad: Man fatally wounded from gunshot at firing range

    http://blog.al.com/breaking/2010/08/...rom_gunsh.html

Details are still sketchy, but it looks like a guy walked into the range I use, and shot himself in the chest. They are not calling it a suicide, yet, but it sounds like they will soon.
I've noticed, reading some of the other articles around the internet, that this seems to be a forming trend around the country.
The only thing I can figure, is that these folks don't want their families to walk in and find the mess, so they are going somewhere where someone else will have to deal with it. Either way, it's pretty jacked up.

I'm wondering if they rent the gun, as they may not actually own one of their own?

The majority seem to be renting the gun.
Guns don't kill people, people kill people...and chimps do, if they have a gun

My range has stopped renting guns to patrons shooting alone, unless they have a LTC. I'm guessing their lawyer pushed this due to liability concerns.

Yeah several ranges in my area only rent out handguns if you come with another person or bring a gun with you.

For someone who doesn't own a gun, a "range rental" is a quick-n-easy way to get your hands on one. If discovery was the issue, there are many other places that one could do this in order to not be found by loved ones. The common denominator to these range suicides is the rented gun.

I wonder how long it will be before BATFE rules that a rental is a transfer?
