Licensing for childrens' toys whose shape is close to something disliked and feared. Misguided, indeed.

One post did note that if one reads the entire 662 pages, closely, one might surmise toy guns are exempt, but then again............

For all the similarity between us and OZ, they really are quite different about some things.

Can't speak about Queensland because I wasn't there long enough to know much than the tourist stuff, but on the other side, WA, there are companies which do a brisk bizz. selling and servicing steel window shutters. These are used in nice homes in good neighborhoods. Its really the only protection from invasion as you can't have guns and can't attack the home invader--must retreat.

The homes of my sisters and brothers in-law there resemble little fortresses. Besides the steel shutters, there are special cut resistant screens, video cams, fancy alarms, and dogs. All well and good I suppose but they'd have a lesser problem with home invasions if they'd let you use a 12 guage.

Hey, in case you haven't noticed, of the FOUR gun control laws that went through the legislature this year, NONE passed to even get to the governor's desk. The tide is turning in CA. We also have a more neutral redrawing of the voting district boundaries coming so those politicians who have carved out their own piece of heaven won't be able to sustain that power base.
