We are having an epidemic of bank robberies!
We have had 6 bank robberies in two days, 4 of them real close to my house and office.
I walked into my bank on Tues. and told them , that on the news , a bank a mile away, had been robbed. Security guard was in shoot out with 3 guys. He was wounded in the hand and wounded one of the BG. When I leave the bank , I hear a bunch of sirens and see cop cars flashing every where. A bank a half mile a way had just been robbed! And then to top it off, someone decided to rob the one by my office. 3 in one day... within a couple of miles of each other.

That robbery was at the Preferred Bank in the 16500 block of Stuebner Airline Drive near Cypresswood Drive. Investigators said three armed men robbed it at about 1:40 p.m.
An off-duty Harris County sheriff's deputy, Mitchell Bettin, was working an extra job at the bank was shot when he confronted the robbers, investigators said. He's expected to recover.
Two other banks were robbed within a few hours, officials said. The Citibank on Cypresswood Drive near state Highway 249 was held up at about 2:45 p.m. and a Chase Bank on Jones Road was robbed at about 4:30 p.m.
That was Tues...then Wed. We have 3 more!

he latest robbery happened at a Chase bank on Louetta Road at Kuykendahl when an armed man dressed in all black and wearing a mask walked into the bank with a gun and knife at 5:30 p.m., police said. He escaped with some cash.
The second robbery occurred at the Wells Fargo bank at 2075 Westheimer Road at Shepherd at 2:10 p.m. A man carrying a backpack passed the teller a note before he escaped.
Earlier in the day, a Bank of America in the 7500 block of Fondren Road at the Southwest Freeway was hit at 10:50 a.m.

Good 'ol Houston. Was a bike Courier in the city for six years. The Bank of America near Two Houston Center was hit several times a month for two years in the late '90's.
Living and working there is one of the reasons I started carrying more than a knife..

Time to start arming the tellers, put a metal detector in the door, and cameras right in the teller booths. There are ways of making banks more secure, I just don't know why nobody does it.

No, no metal detectors. That will prevent us CHL holders from carrying into the bank. Unless they do like the state capitol and set up a separate entrance for CHL holders.

Most banks now a days are installing the safety glass between the tellers and customers, and I have never gone into a bank and not had a camera at each teller booth and out front and in the lobby. Those things are in alot of banks but it still doesn't prevent robberies.

Yeah because criminals won't go through that door. Maybe they should put a no firearms sign on the door, that WILL work!

On the TX capital , they recently installed metal detectors, after some idiot last year shot the front of the capitol building. Before then, there were no metal detectors and you could carry into the building. CHL holders go through the same entrance as capitol employees. You just present your CHL, the guard then checks to make sure your CHL is in good standing on the computer, and then you are allowed to go in, armed.

Bank robberies? I think that we're just getting started.
As we fall into an economic abyss, nothing will be safe...and signs won't work!
