That's a shame. All of my children knew how to handle all of the weapons in the house before they were 14, he should have been trained on the proper use if any weapon in the house to help prevent any accidents. Also, the weapons should have been secured if he wasn't properly trained with it.

Don't ever assume that will make any difference what-so-ever. 2 boys, brothers, the sons of an officer here who were well trained and extremely responsible when it came to firearms. For some unknown reason (1-15, 1-17) are downstairs at there home, one of them hands the other a shotgun (loaded) and the other does not have a grip on it when the first one lets go of it (thinking he has it). Gun drops, they both grab for it...... someone accidentally hits the trigger in trying to catch the falling gun..... 15 yr old takes a point blank shotgun blast to the chest and is dead. A great kid, dead. His brother , has never been to able to live with himself.

They had all the training in the world on guns and gun safety. They knew better than having it loaded or even be messing with it at that point. But, he's still dead.

This one seems a bit weird to me, ... I guess because of age, access to the gun & ammo a question, and no one else around (? ), or not.

Luckily for him it was only a .22. I don't have kids, but I've invested in a locker anyway.
