Most Universities are crime-ridden places. Most of what happens never gets in the media, it's usually squashed and swept under the rug.

They don't want bad publicity endangering the enrollment of students, that is the only concern Universities feel. It's all about the money.

Safety of students, faculty and guests will only be scondary to the function of the school.

I would worry about the safety of my kids at a school like this, and unfortunatly this is probably the norm in all Universities.

Its a campus that sits directly in the heart of the city. The suspects are still at large.

    College campuses are easy pickings.
The University of Florida has plenty of problems on its campus after dark...not highly publicized.
Of course no one can carry on the campus except criminals.

They need to start posting signs that say, "Only criminals may have weapons here." That would clear up all of the confusion and they could use it at more than just college campuses. Actually, it may register to some as what "No Guns" is really saying.
