    Some people are too nice

In an interview on KHOU the home owner said he intentionally shot him in the leg.
He said he didn't want the man dead, and doesn't necessarilly want him in jail. He does want the guy to pay for the damage to his property though.

Oh, he'll buy you a new window...yeah, right!
The dirtbag was bold enough to park illegally in the man's driveway? He was bold enough to try and break into the home?

I'm glad I don't have that problem. Being too nice that is. Sometimes my wife has to remind me just to be a little nice. ;)

dead BG do not return to get even.
I carry to protect myself and my loved ones from the BG's. Not to solve societies problems. That said: if more carried the deterrent would only have a positive overall effect on those problems.

Well its a good thing its in Texas, otherwise in some states the homeowner would be in trouble. Shooting in the leg could be twisted to say you used deadly force where none was needed. Of course he could always say he missed!

It is common practice for burgulars to return to the scene of the crime at a later date.

Too bad that the home owner dosent realize this. He may get lucky and the guy might not ever return, or he may get burglarized again. Those are odds that I am not willing to test.

An intruder breaking into my house would be unlikely to leave alive. Who knows why the person is attempting to break into my home and beyond that, who cares? Break into my home, meet the 00 buck.

In this case the BG was enraged enough to attempt to enter an occupied home because his car was towed. How much more enraged will he be now that he has been shot. He may now decide to go on a sneak attack for revenge (as he sees it). After all he had every right to park in the home owners driveway and block it. When the unreasonable home owner had his car towed he had every right to break into the home.

Yup. Somehow I doubt that getting shot in the leg improved this guy's disposition. I'm a firm believer in "Sweaty Teddy's" rule of dead intruders.

    Angry

HPD officials couldnít confirm later Friday if the carís owner will face any criminal charges.

So the guy try's to break into the persons house who had his car towed because he is enraged and the police could't confirm if charges were going to be placed and the homeowner is fine with that. This guy isn't "to nice", he is an idiot.

Let's see I was shot but I was not charged with a crime, "Hello is this the law offices of Dewey, Cheatham and Howe".
