Another failure of strict gun-control.
NJ with one of the strictest gun-control regimes in the nation (second only to CA according to the Brady campaign see: http://www.bradycampaign.org/stategunlaws/scorecard/)
denied five folk an opportunity to defend themselves, while the criminal ignored NJ draconian law against self-defense (as criminals always do).

Five shot, one critically at party near Seton Hall University
EAST ORANGE, N.J. — New Jersey police say a man denied access to a private party at an apartment near Seton Hall University left and returned with a handgun, shooting five people.
East Orange Police Sgt. Andrew Di Elmo says one victim is in critical condition after the shooting just after midnight Saturday. The other four are hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

I am trying to figure out how NJ is second to Ca. Atleast Ca has some counties you can get a ccw and open carry. I have seen people say this before. In NJ it is damn near impossible. so my question is how NJ is second to Ca?

As I have posted before, the brady bunch doesn't rank some things we tend to think are important and put too much emphasis on some things we tend not to be too concerned about.
For example they worry about ballistic fingerprinting and microstamping on semi-auto handguns, which we tend to ignore because it is not a reality, yet -- or because we have person-to-person transfer and no gun registration. Ditto requiring dealers to have a State license and State law requires record keeping and retention. Ditto State law requiring external locks be sold with all handguns and State standards on all external locks. Ditto State law requiring that one must be 21 to buy a handgun.
OTOH the brady bunch does not rank on Castle Doctrine -- a big one for us.
They do rank (give points) on employers not allowing firearms in parking lots, no guns on college campuses, being a "may issue" State and not having State Preemption. But note that they do not rank on all the rest of the "yes-but-not-here BS restriction on carrying nor rank on how much "may issue" is a joke (unless you are rich and well connected).

Yep...^^
The Brady Campaign rating is weighted on it's own scale not specific to just what or how many countys do or do not issue gun permits.

The antis will never understand that the criminals ignore the laws. They are only handicapping the law abiding citizens ability to defend themselves. A criminal who will break the law against murder will think nothing about breaking the strict gun control laws in order to do so. Violence is a people problem, not an inanimate object problem.

Some understand it perfectly.
They could care less about the fact that criminal ignore laws. They know that they cant control criminals, so they go for the next best thing....YOU.
They want your gun because when you are disarmed then you are powerless to enact change when it needs to be changed.
It aint about guns...its about control. Control of YOU.

If you completely eiminated firearms from the civilian population, how long do you think that the democratic process would last?

Way to go Oklahoma! Let's go for last place next year!
Those two points come from the fact that OK does not allow carry on college campuses. Maybe the new legislature and governor will fix that.

When the criminals are running entirely unchecked by good folks, then phase 2 comes in---massive police presence and secret police spying.
