Failures Because of Not Being Armed

The second part of my research for the MidAtlantic Tactical Conference concerns incidents where someone who had a valid CCW was injured or killed by a predator because the CCW Operator was not armed at the time.

Only incidents involving Armed Citizens are relevant to this research, NOT Law Enforcement Officers.

I know of at least two, but any other examples would be good datapoints.

That will be difficult to quantify.

Many states issue a 'gun permit' as being double allowance toward being able to possess a gun _and_ as to carry it on your person.
Then there are those states that do not require any permit/license in order to specifically carry a gun in your vehicle or on your person in public.
Then there are the states like VA and WI where open carry without a permit is lawful but a permit is required in order to carry concealed.

The guys who escaped from the Arizona prison and then killed a couple in their camper. The couple supposedly had CCW's.

That's a relatively good example although it predates Texas CCW. Instrumental in its passage, however.

I am not familiar with that incident. Can you provide a timeframe so I can research it?

Although I do not have an ID,it has been rumored that there was an unarmed CHP holder at the Virginia Tech tragedy.

Maybe the VT chapter of the Students for Concealed Carry on Campus might help. You might contact East Regional Director Kurt Mueller at kurt.mueller@concealedcampus.org

Here is a link I found online, it will at least give you basic info to do a little more research on the whole ordeal.

Search Youtube for "luby shooting" and you can get some video testimony from one of the survivors.

I believe you will find a number of situations where shooting in churches occurred because of some state laws not allowing CCW in a church.
Here area a few to look through... http://www.defensivecarry.com/vbulle...earchid=173492

I also think the Va Tech shooting could've been stopped by a CCW holder. If I remember correctly there was a student CCW holder that stated he could have stopped the shooter if he was allowed to carry on campus.
