"We conduct our investigation. We'll do a review and the officer will be back to work," said Edwards.
Souds like the opposite side of, "He will get a fair trial, and then he will be hung."

I wonder if they keep some preprinted exoneration reports around for situations like this.

But seriously, this is the second stoy in a week about an LEO that blasted away at an innocent civilian who was 'pointing' at the BG, because there was a report of a violent crime. The other was an LACo SD rookie shooting 8 times an a shopkeeper who was 'pointing' at the armed robber. I'm not suggesting LEOs 'take one for the team' but how about a little restraint. I can live with a BG getting away but firing rounds at John Q Public because he might be the BG is never good for PR, or the city wallet.

This is what makes a "man with a gun" call so dangerous. You don't want to be pointing at someone, holding your wallet, cellphone, anything. Not a good scene to be part of... especially if you're the MWAG !!

Exactly. 4 feet off of target in fact. I got it. He was just firing a warning shot. haha Lets hope next time he shoots, that he is certain he's shooting at something he "should" be shooting at.

There is no question that the officer screwed up and fortunately no one was hurt. I do think that at least a reasonable look at the circumstances is warranted. This apparently was not a MAWG call it was a "shots fired" call, considerable difference. 0 dark thirty, first car/man to arrive, sees someone fitting the description of the susp holding something shiny in his hand turn toward the officer. Still a screwup, but not as outrageous as some would suggest.

When you see cops pull up quickly (with or with out lights), it's time to have your hands clearly seen and move slowly.OMO

It's great how they use the "I was in fear for my life" line all the time. I understand being in fear for your life, but be a little bit more sure you're in fear for your life next time. Cell phone, wallet, hand, keys, pears, etc.
