FBI: Same gun shot at Pentagon, Marines' museum

    http://www2.timesdispatch.com/news/2...eum-ar-588331/

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The same gun was used to shoot at the Pentagon and the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Northern Virginia earlier this month, the FBI said Tuesday.

A third military office -- a Marine Corps recruiting station in Chantilly -- was shot at overnight Monday; Marines who work there discovered the shooting Tuesday morning, the FBI said. Investigators are conducting ballistics tests to determine whether the recruiting station shooting is related to the previous incidents.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing... Or perhaps so far, he hasn't intended to kill anyone yet? Hopefully the fool gets caught before he does kill someone.

How do they even determine that? Haven't rifling ballistics analysis always been sort of a crapshoot anyway? Plus, wouldn't the bullet be pretty deformed after hitting a solid object?

Educated guesses based on hole size or impact damage combined with distances possible to fire the shots from?

that is enough to make an educated guess that it was the same kind of round...but without rifling characteristics etc it would be a poor guess

True, but what if it was a soft point, or hollow point round? That would make the hole bigger than the actual caliber.
