Two people facing counterfeiting charges

HUNTINGTON -- Two people were arrested on counterfeiting charges after a traffic stop early Monday on 16th Street Road, according to a release from the West Virginia State Police Huntington Detachment.
Joshua Douglas Hatten, 21, was charged with felony counterfeiting, forgery, being a felon in possession of a firearm, along with misdemeanor driving under the influence, driving on a suspended/revoked licenses, carrying a concealed weapon.
Harold Arthur Thompson, 20, was charged with felony counterfeiting, forgery, being a felon in possession of a firearm and misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon. Bond was denied pending arraignment.
The arrest came after State Police stopped a Chevrolet Trailblazer on 16h Street Road. Senior Trooper W.G. Hash and other troopers from the Huntington detachment confiscated a loaded 9mm high point pistol with the serial numbers removed and several hundred dollars of counterfeit currency was also located. Officers also conducted a search warrant at the house of one of the suspects and confiscated more counterfeit operation items.
The incident remains under investigation.
