Threat puts Fla. county schools on lockdown
Happening right now. Just think how defenseless they must feel with no weapons to protect themselves. There is a wolf on the loose and now the sheep are in danger.
PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – Schools in Florida's second-largest county were on lockdown Wednesday after police said an unidentified woman called a radio station and said her husband might go to a school and start shooting.
Pembroke Pines Police Capt. Daniel Rakofsky said an earlier e-mail to the radio station, maybe from the man in question, said "something big was going to happen," possibly at a post office or a school.
Schools in Pembroke Pines, a suburb of Fort Lauderdale, were initially placed on lockdown as a precaution. The lockdown was then extended to all 300 Broward County schools. The county has nearly 257,000 students.
Neither the man nor the woman have been identified, though police said they were following several leads.

The lockdown was lifted at 1:45 p.m., just before schools normally get out for the day. All afterschool activities Wednesday were canceled.

It appears the call was a hoax.

Even if the call was a hoax both of them should be put in jail.

Even if the call was a hoax, teachers and staff should be able to be armed on school property to defend themselves and the students!!

Should be both as far as I'm concerned!
How many times do we hear of some relative or such calling the authorities to warn them of that someone... and they ignore it, and a terrorist action or mass murder occurs despite an opportunity for interdiction and prevention. Then here comes this woman with this ridiculous prank. She's just hurting the cause of people who call with legit warnings.

I didn't hear anyone say it was in fact a hoax. Parents are very frightened over this. At least they have armed guards at the schools. The caller said it could be a post office or government building as well. I hope it's a hoax and they catch them.

I hope the find the perp if the call was real or the caller if it was a hoax.
In any case, it's a shame that teachers can't be armed to defend themselves and the little ones if some whacko does go off the deep end.
