He was a hero trying to protect the innocence and well-being of a 13-year-old girl, they said.
On Saturday morning, Latting walked into a home on Thelma Street to find Andrew L. Hampton, 43, also of Benton, in the process of allegedly raping the girl, her family and friends of the family told police as well as The Courier.
It was then, as Latting was attempting to leave the home, that Hampton allegedy stabbed him in the back several times
Sad story.
Should have stopped the threat.
I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, I won't be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to other people and I expect the same from them. -- John Wayne as John B. Books in "The Shootist"

This victim is a true hero. I don't throw that out there often, but this guy deserves it. He disregarded his own safety to save the innocence and possibly the life of that poor child.

Agreed.
Further let this be a very serious lesson to everyone; You never ever never turn your back to monsters or an enemy. NEVER!
