Manhunt on for home-invasion suspect in Bedford Hills

BEDFORD Police were searching for a suspect in downtown Bedford Hills this morning who was wanted in connection with a reported home invasion.

The search in the area of the Bedford Hills train station involving town officers and a tracking dog team from the Westchester County police began before dawn and continues as the height of the rush hour approached.

"The girl was home with her mother when the man entered through the unlocked door..."

It may not have prevented the break in, but why make it easy for them?

I'm always surprised how many of my neighbors have burglar alarms and are too lazy to arm them when they leave.

That's how many people live around here. It's a safe place, why should they have to lock their doors?

Unfortunately people need to learn it the hard way, after the bubble they have been living in is burst. Thankfully no one was hurt this time.

My neighbors in the condo had someone rummage through one of their cars one night a few months ago. Nothing was taken but he was pissed, but he left his doors unlocked. Just because he doesn't live in the Bronx any more doesn't mean he can leave his doors unlocked now.

My parents bother me to no end with this. They almost never arm it.

How may times do we hear, "I can't believe it happened here."
Crime is everywhere and those who still leave doors unlocked and move around town with their heads in the clouds will always learn the hard way.
