Bad: Argument results in shooting.
This happened in a very small town not far from me, first murder in the town's recorded history.
Pine Level shooting stemmed from argument, police say
Pine Level, N.C. — Pine Level police charged a man with murder early Saturday. Police Chief Keith Sparks said it could be the first murder in the town's history, and it involved the son of a town leader.
Stefan Gudac, 23, is charged in the death of Devin Barber, of Smithfield.
Stefan Gudac is the son of Pine Level's commissioner of water and sewer, Anthony Gudac. He lives with his father at 417 E. Pine St., where he had some friends over Friday night, Sparks said.
Stefan Gudac argued with Barber, police said, and then shot him shortly before 1:30 a.m.

Well, there's not enough information on this story to really make any kind of comment.
However, on it's surface, it would seem he shot an unarmed man 3 times over an argument. Let's wait and see how that works out for him.
Those who consistently think it's okay to shoot unarmed people because they fear they could be killed by a single hit to the face should pay close attention to this case.
You can say "I was in fear of my life" until the cows come home, however that has to pass the "reasonable man" smell test. And as a general rule, the public at large, as well as the courts, tend to frown on shooting unarmed people.
"The gun is the great equalizer... For it is the gun, that allows the meek to repel the monsters; Whom are bigger, stronger and without conscience, prey on those who without one, would surely perish."

Looks like Gudac was/is active duty. Not that it would make any difference. Bark'n is right, this one will be interesting to see how it plays out. My "hunch" is, he'll be convicted.

"People in Arizona carry guns," said a Chandler police spokesman. "You better be careful about who you are picking on."
