My father told me, "I chose my wife, I didn't choose you. I love you, but I will always choose my wife over you." I thought it was a bit harsh at the time, but now that I'm older and have a child of my own I understand what he meant. I only have to live with my son for another 12 years before he's kicked from the nest. I'm going to live with my wife for another 42 years (we have this 50-year joke/agreement going on). I'm sure it was a tough choice, but it was the right one.
