HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson police say a 71-year-old woman knocked a man who attacked her unconscious with her frying pan.
Home invasions are becoming awful frequent. Glad the woman came out on top! Hope she learns not to let strangers in her house!!!!!

Well, it would be better if they were scrapin him up with a few additional ventilation holes instead of a busted head, but I guess this is a case of "whatever works"
Maybe I'll start sleeping with my skillet, you know, just in case I run out of ammo

You know....the catch to that story is that some of us younger adults carry guns, yet a little old lady can take care of things with what's at hand. To me, that shows determination to survive. Just remember that almost anything can be used as a weapon in self defense. The will, and the mind behind it is where school should start. The only one who should ever pay for training is the criminal.
IMO....need to find out her address and all send her a Christmas card!

From the article:
Funderburk was jailed on $55,200 bond on suspicion of attempted rape, aggravated battery, criminal restraint and criminal damage to property.
I wonder if the "criminal damage to property"
were blood stains on the carpet.

Good for her. Hey, if it was a cast iron skillet, it will not only ring your bell it may well crack it.

I guess she scrambled his egg. +1 for this lady!! If the media would so widely publish the successful defense stories in the news like they do the sensationalized bad stuff perhaps the criminal element would start to get the message that people can and do fight back. Perhaps the rate of this stuff would go down if these successful defense stories would get the same amount of media attention.

Right on! The best weapon is a survival mindset - having made in advance the commitment to survive regardless.

A wrack on the head with a heavy iron skillet is no joke. Good for her.
And imagine what the BG will face in prison from fellow inmates. 'It ain't gonna be easy.'
