Procedures to stop thieves would be good. A senior citizen at the front door going through the motions of checking receipts is just an exercise in futility. She doesn't deserve to be abused but she is wasting time.

I do the same. Always pay with a credit card and always insist on a receipt before I leave. That protects me from a false charge of leaving without paying.
