Lots of "stupid" in the entire event, and agree with your comment. Hurts us all as responsible gun owners and CCs. I guess the point I was tryign to make with the post is that a published editor imposes thoughts about gun ownership, and the concealed carry process, on the already seething anti-gun community. Thanks for calling me on it...

I can't comprehend the thought rationale going through someones head to brandish a gun over what is essentially a parking violation. Where is the threat to life? I won't even beging to wonder where the tow truck driver's head was at.

I read the article and it was very sad. Still, the media loves this sort of thing and quietly discounts the homicides that occur each day from a means other than a firearm.

Hiding from idiots will not make them go away. I find it better to keep a careful eye on what they are up to.

Some anti-gun people think people carry because "they are compensating for something," or similar. While that is not true for most of us here, in the case of guys like that, that is their thought process.

To them, a gun is 20+ oz of extra bravado and ego. These are the kinds of gun owners I really dislike.

That is my take on it also, the author does not take a stand either way but emphasizes these are really two people who lacked any judgment at all.

The gun was just the instrument of 2 stupid people doing stupid things. If it wasn't the gun it could have been a tire iron, knife or ornamental yard Gnome. You can't fix stupid nor can you legislate against it. A conservative would say this is an example of 2 dummies with guns. A liberal would say we need to take everyone's guns away. Neither would bring the guy back and neither would prevent it from happening again.

Follow up: I sent Mr. Barton an email with my thoughts but I doubt he'll respond.

Sounds anti gun to me. What's more telling, is that no mention on whether eithor of them were carrying legally. Whether eithor of them had a permit to carry concealed. I'm sure the media & anti's will try and link it to the legal CC group regardless. They make it a gun issue. Not a poor decision or decisions on one or both parties issue.
I bet if we used the same logic for vehicle deaths the anti's would say, "That's different!!" Let's regulate & outlaw vehicles. It's different because it's a tool "they" use.
