AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Georgia authorities are investigating the discovery of six loaded shotguns aimed at a food plot that were rigged to be fired through a network of Web-controlled cameras.

The Augusta Chronicle reported the guns were discovered last fall on Georgia Power Company right of way in rural south Georgia.

The set up was discovered by a utility contractor and it was reported to the U.S. Office of Homeland Security.

The newspaper reported that a bulletin circulated by the Office of Homeland Security said it appeared that the rig was only intended for illegal hunting in an area known to be infested with wild hogs.

By the time the cop arrived the setup had been removed. I'll bet some loony politician will use this for some sort of nefarious legislation against guns and the internet and probably talk radio somehow....

We are getting an increasing number of "off topic" threads posted to the "In the News" forum. So much so that it is beginning to become a general crime story repository that is really not the focus of this forum. If you come across news items that have some real application to concealed carry, open carry, successful (or unsuccessful) armed self defense please feel free to post them, but "general crime" stories, not associated with self defense in any way should be avoided. Likewise for stories of crime in countries other than the US.

This is interesting, but it does not belong here. Please feel free to repost in the off topic forum. This one will disappear in a bit.
