Subway Clerk Shoots Robbery Suspects, Kills One

Officers responding to reports of gunshots found a black male lying at the end of a strip mall near the Hidden Valley neighborhood, dead of an apparent gunshot wound, police said.

Witnesses told police two men had entered the Subway, armed with handguns.

“An altercation ensued when the employee did not comply with the suspects’ demands; the employee fired his weapon, striking both suspects,” a police release said.

The men ran from the store. Shortly after that, a man showed up at Carolinas Medical Center suffering from a gunshot wound. Police say they think that man is associated with the case.
