OK City Man Indicted For Shooting Police Helicopter

This guy is in very serious trouble: He shot an OK City police helicopter and was indicted in federal court. The bullet hit the vertical stabilizer.

The young Oklahoma City man accused of shooting at a police helicopter to impress a girlfriend is facing a federal charge.

A federal grand jury Tuesday indicted Michael P. McMichael, 18. He is charged with one count of damage to an aircraft and one count of discharging a firearm during a crime of violence.

He had faced a felony assault charge in Oklahoma County District Court over the helicopter shooting.

Oh, he had to be from OKC didn't he... Moron. Did he think he was going to get away with it, and why do it in the first place?

    This.

A percentage of folks who walk and live among us simply do not have an ability to reason and/or lack sufficient levels of left brain focused impulse control.
They are in some cases born this way and others are raised as same.

In this case thank goodness the only persons to be harmed is the idiot himself.
I wonder how he was found out/caught.

Why wasn't he charged with attempted murder? It would seem to me that any reasonable person would think that shooting something in the air would cause it to crash and probably kill the occupants.

    Agreed. ^^
Or to kill the occupant/operator directly as by the shot.

I'd have pushed at the state level for assault against a law enforcement officer and battery.
But then if I were a DA/judge I'd have little understanding and patience for what my mom used to refer to as 'mess!'.

Having worked as a JAFO, I would take serious offense to such actions.

First of all, that is just dumb, what makes people think such things are good ideas?

Second of all, it takes some skill, or luck, or a combination, to hit an aircraft while in flight. I'm going to guess it was mostly luck on his part.

    Crimestoppers tip.

Stewart said an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers led detectives to 18-year-old Michael McMichael, of Oklahoma City.
