This just doesn't make sense but then what does these days. Could be that she purchased the pistol for someone else who wasn't able legally to own one then, reports that someone took it from her. The area where the event occured is rampant with crime and drugs so go figure.

LARCENY: A 30-year-old woman reported that she was showing someone a pistol she owns Tuesday evening in the Fairfield Area of Huntington when the person took the pistol and fled the area. The gun was valued at $500.

I have been a customer of this establishment, which has strict rules that no customer can handle a loaded gun inside the shop. If you buy it, you have to load it outside, which is in full view of the entire community. Most new owners are reluctant to do that. It's a rather bad neighborhood, and the community residents know the policies pretty well. This was probably inevitable.
