I was a Travelers customer for a while, and if I recall they insure what the media calls assault rifles, but not what WE cal assault rifles, those being Class 3 Fully Automatic etc. They had no issues with my Bushmaster.

Homeowners policy canceled due to owners assault weapon
No insurance company is your friend. They are a necessary evil with one purpose in mind. To make money off of you. It is nothing short of legalized, government indorsed gambling.
Freedom doesn't come free. It is bought and paid for by the lives and blood of our men and women in uniform.

That story is inconsistent. On one hand, Travelers say they dropped him because of some inherent risk due to the "assault weapon." Then it starts talking about insurance on the firearm itself. Which is it? If it was just with the weapon itself, they could've just excluded it; no need to drop the whole policy. A poorly written story.
