The best preventative medicine is superior fire power.
I dislike their inflammatory statement that the son, "took the law into his own hands", as opposed to saying that he "came to the defense of his parents". In any case, good on the son.

That is what you get in the overly liberal Memphis area for news reporting.
The best preventative medicine is superior fire power.
Quote from article; "A man robbed the couple in their driveway in the 6400 block of Cheekwood. He then started shooting at the couple."
This is why I question the statement of "Why did he (the GG) start shooing they were leaving" If the BG shows a weapon he is a threat as long as he and you can see each other. Therefore why can't you shoot? Just because he is walking away does not mean he will not turn and open fire. Are you a mind reader? I am not. If I can not draw my weapon until he turns his back to walk away and he turns to look back the fight is and feel should be on. Even if he does not start to shoot first.
What say you!

Last line in the article,
"The son who shot the robbers will not be charged."
As it should be.
Where did you see the statement, "Why did he (the GG) start shooing they were leaving" ?

I used to have family that lived on that block. I still have family less than 1/2 mile away.
Not in this article but in others. Guess this is hi jacking of thread and should be posted in own. Sorry

A related question, not necessairly hijacking. In this particular case the assailant was actually shooting at the victims while departing, as opposed to some where shots are fired at a departing assailant who is not firing at the victims, considerable difference.
"I do what I do." Cpl 'coach' Bowden, "Southern Comfort".
Exactly right, Guantes. The son in this case was "returning fire." That's totally acceptable.
That's very different from a situation where there is a robbery, the robber turns and walks away, and you draw a gun, line up, and shoot him in the back. If he's sending rounds uprange, you're allowed to send some back without risk of it being viewed as vigilantism.
Also, big props to CPTMO who gives an expert lesson here in how to cite a news story:
1. Clear, descriptive title
2. Straight link to the original source
3. Brief summary of the content.
This is textbook perfect.

This can't be right. If you give robbers what they want, they will not harm you.

I second this.......very bad reporting.
That's my question after seeing the attempted aggrevated robbery charge...........I'm thinking they will up the charge if they haven't already, but we'll see.
Either way, Bravo Zulu on that couples boy for taking care of bidness and protecting/defending his own!

Talk about bias attitude...That article is terrible in stance.
Bottom line good on the son for coming to the _defense_ of his in immediate lethal danger parents, and having set himself up before hand with ability to do so through possession of appropriate tools AND having some degree of practiced skillset with that tool so as to be functional & effective.
To hell with that news paper writer.
Next time lets put that persons parent s on a firing lane at their own driveway and see what he/she then has to say, and do.
