I think he closed the door to keep the dogs out! Then decided that he would need an LEO to get him past them on the way out.

Our local news media here in Oregon has now posted the audio of the 911 calls for this incident. They are hilarious to listen to.
Here is the intruder calling 911, expressing his fears:

The homeowners that confronted the intruder were a mother and her daughter. They came home to find him showering in the bathroom. Here is the mother's call to 911:

The 911 calls were interesting. I hope the "alleged" home intruder gets the book thrown at him! He's lucky he didn't enter a home where the home owner had a gun, knew how to use it, and decided to use it because he "feared for his life"!

Oregon folks are soooo even-keeled! You just have to experience Eugene, OR to know. Could have been way different, he's lucky it went that way.
Maybe he thought they'd never find him in such a large house . . (and he wouldn't be homeless any more).

I would have been kicking my own bathroom door in to give my shepards something to munch on.
It boggles my mind to think of people breaking in to an unoccupied house then taking a nap or a shower. Why don't they grab something and get the hell out before someone comes home?
The home owner sounded like she thought the entire thing was funny talking to the 911 operator. I think she didn't appreciate the seriousness of the situation.
One more example of when you need a policeman they are only 5 minutes or so away. Her call was 4 minutes and 20 seconds and started after the idiot had made his call.

Gotta know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. My house the intruder's 911 call would have ended with a bang, clearing the "did I have a gun" issue up real fast. At least cleanup is easier in the bathroom. I've seen a ton of stories through the years of people breaking in and taking a shower, a nap, dropping a deuce...it just don't make sense!
All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.
How the blazes did the guy get past 2 GSD's to begin with Mine won't even let you in the yard, let alone the house, without hubby or I giving them the clear.
