A Lawton bar patron became unruly and was thrown out. Timothy Taylor threatened folks in the parking lot with a knife and later started shooting at bystanders. The bar owner came out and killed Taylor.
Prediction: The bar owner will get a pass by the Comanche county DA.
OSBI: Bar Owner Kills Unruly Patron - Oklahoma City News Story - KOCO Oklahoma CityEmployees at the Park Tavern at 196 E. Lake Drive said they escorted Charles Timothy Taylor off the premises after customers complained about his behavior. They said once Taylor was outside, he pulled out a knife and tried to stab several people.
The workers said they ran back inside, called 911 and the bar's owner. Police said by the time the owner arrived, Taylor had a gun and started firing at a crowd of people outside the bar. The owner fired back, killing Taylor.
That's what I'd have done! It's too bad that it wasn't taken care of while he still had the knife.

Just found out that Charlie Taylor is a former Lawton, OK fire marshall. Taylor was fired years ago after his city car was found abandoned and wrecked in OK City. An arbitrator reinstated Taylor. Taylor was terminated by the city last year as asst fire marshall.
The Lawton Constitution article:
Weird sequence of events. Escorted out, threatens employees with a knife, bar owner and PD called, guy leaves and comes back with gun. Bar owner arrives and the guy starts shooting.Bar owner grants his request for a dirt nap then PD arrives? I would think a call to PD with a complaint of an armed assault in progress would get PD there inahurry.
Methinks bar owner got called then guy shot. PD called waayyy later than reported...

The incident did not happen in Lawton. My OP was misleading, as was the source. The shooting happened in Medicine Park, outside the jurisdiction of the Lawton PD. The Comanche county sheriffs office handled the call. After normal working hours and on weekends there are two or three deputies patrolling a county larger than the state of RI. There are usually two deputies, one patrols the eastern section of the county. The other patrols the west.I would think a call to PD with a complaint of an armed assault in progress would get PD there inahurry.
It sure sounds like Charlie Tayor had some issues.
Seems he wasn't afraid to use force to get his way.

In 1999, Taylor and his wife sued so their young son would be allowed to play soccer with his team, after the boy who was confined to a wheelchair because of cerebral palsy was told he could not play. In 2006, Taylor and his wife sued Lawton Public Schools after alleging discrimination against their son, saying MacArthur High School had ignored their son's disabilities, in violation of federal disability laws.
These are followed by him sueing to get his job back after crashing a City Vehicle under suspicious conditions.
Only on this Sunday Morning I guess his Lawyer wasn't available. So he took things into his hands and lost his case in an "Out of Court Settlement" with the Bar Owner.
With all those Law Suits my impression is one of him being a Bully!
He retirement came early! Wonder if his wife will now try to sue the Bar for wrongfull termination???
What have you done to prepare for the end of civilization as we know it?

Chief Justice John Roberts : "I don't see how you can read Heller and not take away from it the notion that the Second Amendment...was extremely important to the framers in their view of what liberty meant."
I live around here and that bar is actually in Medicine Park which is a little north of Ft. Sill. Ft Sill is just North of Lawton.
Anyway, I think your right the DA will let this one go.
Overall the law enforcement, DA, and the like in this area are very second amendment friendly.
I am probably wrong, but I think that Life Insurance Policies have a loophole that let's them of the hook if the Insured is killed during the Commission of a Felony. That is if his actions constituted a Felonious Assault!
But of course there are two other things to consider here.
One, since Old Charlie was terminated from his job as Assist Fire Marshall, he may have not kept his insurance in force via Cobra!
So he may not have kept up his COBRA Policy..
Two, His wife may have so many legal bills now, she may not be able to find a Bottom Sucking Lawyer to take her case against the Insurance Company for reinstatement of his Life Insurance Policy. She will probably be going after the Bars Insurance for Wrongful Death.
You think we should set up a fund for her legal bills now that Charlie has made himself unavailable of earning a living?
Could be an interesting case to follow!
What have you done to prepare for the end of civilization as we know it?
Do your homework, he was also reinstated as Asst. Fire Marshall. Just because someone is fired does not mean it was for any good reason. The Arbitrator felt like the City had no case and they were ordered to reinstate him.
WOW...your condemning a man for standing up for his handicapped child. The school was breaking the law by not being handicap accessible! If it were only alleged then why did MacArthur have to comply and why did sooooo many things have to be done?
Wrongful termination is worth taking a stand against.... AND OH BTW he won that case also.
Okay now I understand you don't care about the truth just rumors. Why he ended up in Medicine Park and how people could be locked in the building, and gathered outside when the bar owner arrived from his house (not the Bar) is yet to be seen. Mr Taylor could win his last case and the Bar owner could end up in Jail. I'm just saying if you don't even know half of what your talking about maybe you should find something else to do while your laying on the couch and NOT STANDING UP FOR ANYTHING!

If you're an alcoholic get help before you get tanked up and make some stupid decision that could kill you or others,at least he only endangered them with a knife and gun instead of innocent people on the road if he crawled into his vehicle and drove off

Mr. Taylor was 'escorted' off the property, but he was a slow learner. Now he has been escorted from the earth, not a problem...one less dirtbag for the world to worry about.

i stand up for what i believe in. Taylor tried to cut folks in that bar. Then he pulled a gun and started shooting at folks in the parking lot. i would rather believe Comanche county sheriff Stradley than someone who defends a drunk who tried to kill folks in a parking lot.I'm just saying if you don't even know half of what your talking about maybe you should find something else to do while your laying on the couch and NOT STANDING UP FOR ANYTHING!
i have friends in the Lawton fire department who knew Taylor. They say he was a good man when he was sober; unfortunately he was not sober often enough. Taylor was fired in 2010 after he got drunk and caused a ruckus at Comanche Nation Games. He pulled out his assistant fire marshall credentials in an attempt to intimidate security guards at the casino. A few days before his death Taylor cut a man in a Lawton business.
