I'd hold a BG with one of my .22s, but it would probably not be a .22 rimfire... thinking AR15 here.

Congrats to the homeowner, but a $2,500 bond? That dirtbag won't be showing up in court.OMO

The question of the day to ask yourself here is: What would you have done if the kid decided to flee?

an old friend of mine, now retired LEO, had a .22 pointed at him once by a BG--he swore that it looked like a .50 when it was pointed at him........

Even a .38 looks like a cannon when its pointed at you and about four foot from your face...I was 15 and at work when that happened.

the punk turning (action) to run and your shooting (reaction) will likely put the entrance wound in his back. the homeowner goes from hero to back shooter in a fraction of a second.
holding a perp till the police arrive has a huge potential for disaster. as it is today, if he/they are mt handed and no longer a threat to you and run, you are best to not fire.

and a $2500 bond is an insult to honest people.

Does anyone honestly think that this Teenager learned a lesson from this?
And yes, the $2500 bond was a slap in the face for honest people.
10% Bail Bond is only $250. The boy can steal that much in one night!
Wonder how many priors he has?
It would be real tempting to retire him permanently.

Let's pray the young man uses this as a turning point in his life and let's pray that it's for the good.
What have you done to prepare for the end of civilization as we know it?
