GOOD for home owner, BAD for BG

Facebook tells the better story for those who have it.

Here is one of the local channels side, but leaves out a lot of info:
Man Falls, Becomes Paralyzed During Hephzibah Burglary Attempt | WJBF

For those without facebook: The guy was the yard man for these people. They come home and find him in their house trying to steal their TV. He tried to flee with the TV remote in his pocket, jumped off their deck, his foot got caught on the railing and he landed on his head, breaking his 5th vertebra and paralyzing him from the neck down. The home owners called 911 and the guy is now in the hospital. A warrant was issued by the local Sheriff's Office for his arrest but they are holding off on arresting him because then they (the Tax payers) would be responsible for his medical bills.

I guess he's not a flight risk, and won't be breaking into anymore homes.

Hopefully he does not attempt to sue them over his injuries.

Don't balk, I've already had this happen at a commercial property. I carry insurance policies just for this.

Nope, he took his last 'flight' off of the deck.

    WHEC724,

Were the people who sued you, in the commision of a felony???

I know my policies health/property insurance both are worded as such that if injured while being involved in a felonious activity, they DO NOT pay.
I don't think the perp in this scenario would have a snowballs chance in HecK of collecting.
As far as suing the homeowner, was he PUSHED off the deck , or did he stumble and fall , all by his lonesome???

    TOO Bad!! Next case please.

In my case, it was only trespassing since the thief injured himself prior to being able to carry anything off. It got tossed anyway (you gotta love country judges), but I did up the liability on my umbrella policy after that.

Wow! I don't normally have sympathy for the BG but this one is pretty bad. If I were in his shoes I would rather be dead.
It is surely true that you can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink. Nor can you make them grateful for your efforts.

I still have no sympathy (then again, it's not really my strong suit).
