You're right. There is more to the story. Anybody wanna bet he was using it for more than "target shooting". Loaded with NO trigger guard? Yeah right.Santana, police said, got the .22-caliber rifle from a cousin about a week ago. He used it for target shooting? He also left it in his car trunk, loaded and without a trigger guard, the affidavit said.

From article "and asked another man who lived in the complex for help getting it out, the affidavit said."
Why do you need help go get a rifle out of your trunk?
It's gotta be who you are, not a hobby. reinman45

Must have been an extremely heavy 22 to need two people to remove it from the trunk, obviously there has to be more to the story.
When you have to shoot, shoot. Don't talk.
"Don't forget, incoming fire has the right of way."
Obviously had his finger on the trigger when he grabbed the stock. Hey buddy, help me get my rifle out of my trunk, you get the barrel end and I'll get the trigger end! Neither one of them knew the rules.

What was this, a benchrest rifle? A gallon of milk weighs more than most .22 rifles.

"A heavily armed citizenry is not about overthrowing the government; it is about preventing the government from overthrowing liberty. A people stripped of their right of self defense is defenseless against their own government." -source
Well the story conveniently explains the victim's finger prints/ palm print on the barrel. If I hypothetically wanted to shoot you in the chest (and you were not aware of the rules etc) I could easily stand so as to force you to grab the front end and as you hand the rifle to me just pop one off into you.
Ooooopsie!
I'm just sayin..........

Yep, the gun went off accidentally on purpose.

Reading the comments below the article will tell you nobody there believes this BS story either. This is a complete guess on my part, but what may have happened is that the two guys got into a beef that escalated to a threat about "getting his gun from the trunk" He goes to get it with the victim in hot pursuit trying to stop him. Trunk opens, owner grabs rifle, rifle begins to swing out, victim comes in to stop him and grabs the rifle barrel just as owner gets a round off into his chest.
