Police: Homeowner shoots/kills burglary suspect

SUMTER COUNTY, SC (WIS) – A burglary suspect was found dead near a Sumter County home after police said the homeowner fired three rounds

The Sumter County Sheriff's Office said when deputies arrived at the scene in response to a burglary, they found the front door of the home had been kicked in.

What a novel idea!

I see no problem with the outcome of this incident. The fact that the sheriff said Wiley did not appear armed has no bearing on the fact that he committed burglary of an occuppied dwelling in the night time and the homeowner was in fear of his life.......:yup:

I suspect that health insurance for burglars is going up.

It was actually a mid-morning incident (this a.m.), but SC is a Castle Doctrine state and I would tend to take the same action if someone kick my door twice in a week...

(UPDATE ~ New information clarified the time to very early morning; and the previous break through a window resulted in the loss of a TV and a laptop...)

If you don't kick the door in, you don't get shot. Hopefully some of the local thugs will take notice.

Sad for the homeowner, having to drop three into someone.

This Wiley guy was living so clean during the last 15 years too, staying of the radar & all. :ticking:
Wouldn't be too surprised if they did find a weapon along his path in the coming days.

Exactly right. All the home owner did was take out the trash.

Another early retirement for a bad man!
No pension, no health care, no Medicare and no social security payments.
The best part is no 3 hots and a cot for the the next 42 years!

There is currently a serial home invader here. So far hit at least 6 homes. If only one of them had been armed....

honestly, this is a crappy situation. I'm glad the homeowner was not hurt and any way, and I hope he does not have some stupid charges put on him... like firing without having a cause (since he wasnt armed or something stupid like that). But it still sucks someone died. I mean even if the guy is robbing someone, or even if he was armed. Yes, shoot, but it still sucks. It's never a positive thing, but I'm glad it turned out about as good as it could have, with these circumstances.
