KTRK: Taxi driver shoots, kills passenger during altercation
Houston police say a Yellow Cab taxi driver killed his passenger with a shot to the head after an altercation and possible robbery attempt about 3 a.m. Saturday, KTRK-TV reports on its website. The cabbie picked up his fare at a men’s club and drove him to a home on Rittenhouse at DePriest in northwest Houston, KTRK reports. Police said the customer attacked the cab driver, who pulled a gun and fired. No charges are expected, but the case will be referred to a Harris County Grand Jury.

Cabbies shouldn't have to be 'easy pickins'...congrats to this taxi driver who rightfully defended himself.

Could you please post the link to the story?

Hummmmmm ... why the Grand Jury ??? Cabbies have been carrying here forever.............. I know back at least 40-50 yrs. Not unusual for folks to try to rob them on late night rides.

In Texas all SD shootings go before a Grand Jury,It's pretty much just a formality,if it was an attempted robbery he will be no billed and if they took his gun for evidence,it will be returned.

I can't understand why a "GENTLEMAN" would try to rob a cabbie.I mean his fare was picked up at a Gentlemans club where only the most upstanding members of society would be allowed to enter.

Last year we had a couple of cab drivers robbed and killed in Houston. Good to see that at least some of them are taking precautions.
