That's a tough one - pulling the trigger on your own kid. Not saying it was not justified SD, but emotionally, that would be tough. Very sad.

I agree. Justified or not he'll probably be replaying that scenario for a long time to come trying to figure out what he could have done better. Prayers with the family, I can't imagine how tough that would be.

It said that the father was treated for injuries afterwards - sounds like he may have put off the inevitible as long as he could. Suicide by father.

Man, does he have a tough row to hoe.

I believe that his training took over and he did what had to be done. I told my wife when we heard the story on TV, that must have been the worst moment of his life as the triger was pulled. May he soon find some piece from what he had to do.

Shooting a family member has to be one of the most horrible things to live with, here’s hoping it does not drive him into a deep depression.

There's nothing worse than losing a child, to have to live with the knowledge that it was at your own hand is going to be devastating. The fact he wasn't given a choice won't make any difference.

From the new storey, it sounds like the officers son was having some mental problems and for what ever reason went after his dad with a knife, very sad situation.
