Either he drops the computer voluntarily or I drop him. Period.

Same with my wife's mothers urn.
It has already been mentioned, but if the important data is only on your computer, you are already begging Murphy for a visit. Hard drives fail all the time, back up your data!

    IT rant over.

Anyone could walk out to a vehicle and find a dirtbag getting 'stuff' out of it; it is my right to: command him to stop, etc., and if he turns tail and runs, so be it.
Shooting in this case is just asking for (make that begging for) problems.
Now, if that same dirtbag chooses to come at me...Bingo! Different scenario...the choices of self-defense narrows down considerably.OMOYMV

Here a just a few similar events that come to mind:

Robber charged with murder in Geraldine Jackson shooting, even though he didn't fire a shot - Detroit Crime | Examiner.com

Conviction of Tigh Croff, Detroit homeowner who killed burglar, proof that justice can frustrate | MLive.com

    Purse Snatcher Down | GunPundit

In the last article, there was speculation that the woman shot at the purse snatchers after/while they were fleeing. Did not hear what happened to her, legally, if anything.

Not to pile on Adric, but as long as there is a 1500+ mile buffer between him and me/my family, I feel relatively safe.
