I always have to wonder "why did the criminals pick that house?" Too often it isn't just random; especially when they specifically demand drugs. I suppose they could have been referring to scrip meds (which people often have) but a full-on invasion for a bottle of Tylenol 3 seems like a lot of risk for very little reward.

Crooks with Body armor... that scares the piss out me
The expertise of the criminal determines the degree to which they case a target. Tylenol3 prolly isn't worth the time of most as you say.
My gut feel is that those criminals who perpetrate home invasions, armed, are the equivalent of "lower middle class" workmen. Pros wouldn't need weapons, nobody would be home. semi-pros would not have to demand drugs, they'd go right to the stash (at least if they were scrip drugs). Amateurs would have gone in the dark of night, perhaps armed, but no body armor. somewhere above amatuers and semi-pro, bush leaguers who had one set of body armor...
hmmm...

Crooks + Body Armor + RIFLE = WAR!!
"One of the suspects produced a rifle and opened fire on our officers," said Sgt. Trent Crump of the Phoenix Police Department. "We're told anywhere between about 12 and 15 rounds may have been fired at the officers."
Hope Phoenix LEOs have rifles in their vehicles. . . and I'll be making mine more readily available too.
