Hotel clerk shoots, kills robber in Culumbia, SC

    From WLTX, Columbia, SC

...details are limited, but deputies say the suspect tried to rob an employee at the hotel by "presenting an unknown object." That's when deputies say the suspect threatened the Days Inn employee.

Authorities say the suspect was shot in the upper body by the employee, and later died.

Yes! +1 for the good guys. But, If you're unfamiliar with the area, that IS NOT a good place to be. For any reason. I was held at gunpoint about a mile from there when I was 16. I had a friend who lived in the area, so I went to visit him........ It ended up with my looking down the wrong end of a couple punks' "9s".

That's a little disturbing because I have a friend who works in a hotel...

Latest information from wistv.com states that the clerk gave up the money but when the BG pulled out zip-ties and started talking sexual assault, she drew her weapon and fired. He is (was....) also a suspect in several other robberies and assaults.

No means no........ hope the victim does not have any lasting psychological effects from this incident. She did the right thing.

I'm so glad she had the guts to do what she had to do to defend herself. It sounds like this ex bad guy intended to inflict far worse psychological trauma by raping her.

She shot the perp one time with a .22 caliber pistol. Shot placement is everything.

She had been robbed before, by the man who killed a pizza store manager. Too bad most people wait till they HAVE BEEN a victim to arm themselves.

"This was an unfortunate situation in which the victim feared for her life and defended herself," Lott said in the release.
Proper identification of the true victim, little or no bias either way, just the facts. That's a good news story.
