HOUSTON A northwest Harris County woman was killed in a home invasion.

Harris County deputies said three men in ski masks kicked in the door of a home in the 17100 block of Copper Crossing Court at Hollow Sands shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday.

The 40-year-old woman went downstairs to see what was going on and she was shot and killed, deputies said.

Investigators said they believe the men were trying to rob the home, but took off after the shooting. Nothing was taken from the home.

Another woman and the victim's 17-year-old daughter were also home at the time, but were not injured.

The victim's name has not yet been released.

A description of the robbers has not been provided.

Very sad. Another illustration of the increasing willingness of criminals to harm or kill victims.

Anyone watch "The First 48?" Harris County, TX is on there quite a bit with murders. Every episode is packed with sad stories like this and the investigations. Senseless killing as usual but hopefully this ends up like it usually does on the show.

This could happen everyday in every town and there will still be people who don't feel there's a need to have a gun on their person inside their home. A gun upstairs in the safe is good enough.

Someone breaks into my home, I just don't see a compelling need to confront/talk to them. More than likely, they'll be getting shot as soon as they enter.

And exactly why do you say I don't need to be carrying my firearm on my person while inside my home?

My son and daughter live in Cypress. Crime in that area escalated when the Katrina "victims" came to town.

That is where the problem with increasing crime began in Houston. Check this out
