Guantes: Could be an affair--but my $$ (if I were a betting man) would be on a sceario something more akin to church staff trying to counsel wife and husband, or counseling wife to seperate from violent, dangerous husband.

Guess we will see what more comes to light.....

I know of 3 of us in our church who carry EVERY Sunday......

Your thought does sound more plausible.

I'm friends with two Polk County Deputies, and I'll find out what they know tomorrow, but my guess is marital counseling gone terribly wrong.

Any time you deal with unstable people you run the risk of something like this happening.

The church is no safer than anyones home or business, add to that the fact that churches do counseling in a world that is evil with many unstable folks.

Yes the church can be a very dangerous place.

As a pastor of over 30 years, I never felt the danger until about 4 years ago and and now wife and I both have our CHL and carry everywhere it is legal, and that includes church.

Many in the church now have their CHLs and carry even to church, the other seem glad to have the protection,

Mr. Glock always goes with me (and the wife) to church...for those "I can't believe it happened here." times.

I am aware of a few LEO's that attend where I go to worship, and at least two other non LEO's that conceal there as well. If things go south, I figure the kids program would be the softest target least capable of defending themselves, and my kids would be among them. That's why I carry at church.
Just cause you're paranoid, doesn't mean you're wrong....

The Sentinel is now reporting that the parishioners in the church tackled the shooter and held him until deputies arrived, and he is in custody.

Blame it on Sixto - now that is a viable plan.
