Well, I can't criticize anything the good guy did here. It was obviously a tough situation. However, I learned a lesson.. if anyone comes up to my car like that and walks away, I'll be more observant. Instead of keeping my eyes just on the one guy, I'll look for another.

And that, my friends, is what concealed carry is all about. The element of surprise, and one heck of a tables turner.

To be honest, he is lucky to be alive. Im glad he survived to tell his story, but if these were hardened BGs they would have slit his throat, took what they wanted and been on there way

I may have complied a little more, but I'm disabled and can't fight physically, once they get the keys and wallet and release me that's when the 1911 comes out in a retention draw and shoot til the threat is stopped.

Good lesson to be learned here. If anything like that ever happens to me, where someone comes up to my car and asks for money in a parking lot, before I get out of the car, I think I will drive to another parking spot in another part of the lot. Locked cars are almost knife proof.

Very good point, bad guy number two could just as easily have stabbed him in the back while he was fixated on number one.

three is more the usual number.

the one you seldom connect to the 1 or 2 you see is the look-out; he is scanning the area for....whatever may
cause him to call off the 'game'. his whistling may be a 'alls ok' or 'no-go'
the 2 you are faced with, or 1 and the other appears not related, demand your attention--
a good trait is to be able to speak back to one person while looking around or at another.

because of your observing, they may call themselves off. they want victims that wont remember enough for a description.
distracted people are many and the BG's have lots of time to wait till one stumbles their way.

unless you give them cause to go after you ( flash $ or bling) your seeing them likely ends it for them.
    ----------------------

your youth and strength won this one for you. and you learned from it
thus you live & learn....good luck.

Being armed saved this guy's life...he'll now sharpen his SA and move on in life, at least his firearm allowed him more time on this earth...

Head on a swivel. It's the one you don't see that'll get you. I remember when this forum captured this story at the time. Interesting followup.

He was lucky enough that it all went his way in the nano-seconds that transpired, and that they were not able to stab/inflict a more lethal blow.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^Very good thought^^^^^^^^^^
