Pizza Delivery Driver Shot in Dallas

Why do I bring this up; I read somewhere that delivery drivers are amongst the highest death rate in the country. I had to look it up and here is what I found: 466 killed in two wars, 586 killed delivering food. That is 100 more killed then in war. I wonder what the stats are on the paperboy?

Well, he can't read his own charts... 459 US casualties in 2 wars, in the year of the report: 2010.
I'm sure some of the the Driver/sales workers/truck drivers fatalities are actually delivering food, but not all of them...

So, his numbers have no real basis...

That said, too many pizza/sandwich/food delivery guys and gals are at too much risk, with no chance (by company policy) to protect themselves.

Like Eastwood said in The Unforgiven:
    He should have armed himself.

    Screw the company policy.

Yes, Truck Drivers and Driver/Sales Workers as a job classification has moved into the top ten from 17th.

Here is a link to the definition of Truck Drivers and Driver/Sales Workers, and those who would fall into this category... Maybe "Pizza Man" maybe not.

It would be interesting (to me), to track this and see how long it has been this way. I guess it makes sense that it always has, that is, there have always been criminals, and there have always been delivery drivers...at least in modern times. I just never, ever heard of such things when growing up, but over the past few years, it seems it's not an uncommon thing at all to hear of some poor pizza guy being attacked or robbed somewhere.

Glad you took it in the spirit offered... some get a little testy over it...
It is fun to do on occasion... I'm as much a data junkie as anyone else, so I look stuff up like these stats frequently.
