Prestera targeted in attempted robbery
HUNTINGTON, WV -- Deputy sheriffs allege a Huntington man used a BB gun and verbal threats in an attempt to demand pills from a local mental health center.
Cabell County 911 received word of the disturbance at 8:56 a.m. Tuesday at Prestera Center in the 3300 block of U.S. 60.
A criminal complaint charges that Jay B. Pike, 34, entered the facility and showed several clients a gun. He advised the clients, "if the doctors didn't give him some medicines when he demands, he would start shooting people."
The Cabell County Sheriff's Office arrived to find Pike sitting in the lobby and passed out, the complaint states. Deputies secured his hands and confiscated the small, black handgun. He was then arrested and charged with felony attempted armed robbery.
Deputies later determined Pike's weapon was a BB gun.
Pike was arraigned by Cabell County Magistrate Dan Goheen and detained on a $50,000 bond. He was incarcerated at the Western Regional Jail
