    Oddball Craigslist Sale

    I do not know where to begin on this one. First, who sells cars at 1:30 AM? But it does raise a valid concern over Craigslist FTF sales. I am constantly amaxed by the number of people I know who do FTF unarmed or even allow teens to do it unsupervised.

    I've got a couple things I'm thinking of selling on Craigslist. I will be meeting people in broad daylight in a heavily trafficked mall parking lot if I do FTF. I will be sitting in my locked Jeep with the engine running. I will be armed and I will bug out at the first sign of trouble.

    I only do FTF stuff while I'm at school in Morgantown since a fellow student is less likely to cause problems. I'll only ever meet people in our Student Union during the lunch rush, and everything has gone smoothly so far.

    I also advertise my recording services on Craigslist, with that I'll only ever go to places that I know host bands or readings so I don't end up in some sketchy apartment complex with $15,000 in microphones and computers.

    I've never had a problem. I've bought two cars, and sold one through Craigslist. When I sold my wife's old Sable, the guy had a wrecker come get the car, and the driver didn't show up until almost midnight. But, of course, I DID have a .357 or a .45 with me the last two times...

    There are people doing shady things through Craigslist, but I've never gotten somewhere or had someone show up where I felt that it was wrong. I don't go somewhere to meet people after dark, and I don't go unarmed. But, so far, everything I've done has been alright.

    I have bought and sold on Craigslist. A Guy tried to haggle me and was getting angry. Closest I've come to drawing on a Craigslist transaction. All others are smooth.

    I went with my son to "help load," worked out well the guy he bought from helped load so my hands were never full. My son figured it out on the way home and thanked me for coming and being armed.

    before a meet, a look on Bing maps shows me clearly the house from all 4 angels;
    that and a street level ( not yet everywhere...) look see on google earth.

    but there have been no problems. for a buyer to come to my house, for the canoe or
    something large, if their name was blocked on the caller ID, i pass on them.

    Saw a show "first 48" In Houston a guy went to buy a car,he was a CHL holder,was supposed to meet a guy at X spot,it was a planned robbery,while he was waiting a guy walked up on him and shot and killed him while he sat in his vehicle.Supposedly what was supposed to happen was the accomplice was supposed to rob him,then the guy with the car show up only to be surprised the guy was robbed and now had no money for the car.

    Heh...folks around here get targeted and robbed at those heavily trafficked mall parking lots. I'll take the heavily trafficked LGS for $500 thanks. Better odds - More GG's with guns than BG's with them(and the dog is always with me). It kind of irks me every time I find out my folks have random craigslist people over to their home to pick up items whenever they sell something. I've been there visiting on the weekends when they've had people show up that set off my creep detector. Usually though I have my dog with me which dissuades any issues. Not too many people are stupid enough to go through with a robbery when they have a snarling Pit standing at the owners right leg that keeps looking up to the owner in what is very clearly an attempt to ask for permission to be let loose.
