Shooter as young as 15. Good shoot, self defense. It's a shame the scumbags tried to rob this family, the teen should be thinking about girls and his grades or even the school dance. Kudos to the kid for keeping his cool! Another BG assuming room temperature getting ready for the funeral home cocktail.

Hope the kid is ok mentally after the shooting. Good for him for saving his family. I hope he understands he did the right thing and saved his family.

Too bad the kid had to take a life,I'm pretty sure that he knew he had to stop the threat to save his family from thugs

This brings up an interesting point. Should the gun have been locked in a safe??
We all scream that the parents are irresponsible idiots when a teenager gets a hold of a gun and causes trouble. We're all (myself included) singing praises to this kid (and his parents, who left the gun unlocked) when he used it to defend himself.

I'm not saying it should be one way or the other. Seems the main thing is being in touch w/ our kids and their maturity level, friends that they bring over, stress levels, training, etc, etc, when considering where our guns are in our homes.

Glad to see the kid is ok. hope he has no lasting trauma over this incident.

His family wasn't home. However, he did save himself.

The news article states "....found his parents gun...." Not true. He knew where it was all along, it wasn't lost.

I hope he has no regrets.

The situation will NEVER BE THE WAY YOU WANT, it WILL BE THE WAY IT IS. You must be FLEXIBLE ENOUGH TO ADAPT and just "DEAL WITH IT".
